We enjoyed a self guided audio tour of this Frank Lloyd Wright property- previously a school of design which was built as a “camp” in the desert. Lovely and remote.

A quiet January afternoon without crowds even though we purchased our tickets in advance.

A few years ago I had visited when tours were done by staff. I found that tour to be more stimulating and in-depth. However, I’m grateful they at least had the audio option this visit.

We went on the self guided audio tour. If you have your own headphones, bring them as you download an app that guides you through the property. If you do not have your own, they provide a set of wired headphones that connect to your phone with an adapter. The tour is informative and interactive allowing you to walk through rooms and areas that the architect designed and built. Would not recommend for children although I did see some there.

Awesome. Seeing the property was fantastic, the audio tour was super informative and I enjoyed walking through and exploring at my own pace.

Be on time, and on time is 15 minutes early. Staff was a little freaked out and frantic that I was late due to a delayed flight, I had to sneak in some connection with nature and history before a long work week and was so excited to see the property, unfortunately I couldn't reschedule. I was late, and for that I am sorry. But you would have thought no one has ever been 15 minutes late to Taliesin West! They had me skip the first few stops which was the outer courtyard, totally fine by me. Fair. Just a warning though to others, try and prioritize timeliness for a smoother visit. Gates to the property close at 5:15 sharp. If you're doing rideshare, order your car in advance so you're able to exit without issue. I was out of there by 5:05 and it was totally fine, still some guests in the gift shop behind me.

I wish we could have seen the quarters for the architecture campers and I was a little disappointed we couldn't go inside the dining room or other internal spaces.

Nonetheless, the access we did have was amazing. I enjoyed the reproduction furniture in the spaces that let you experience the design and feel immersed.

I was so excited to see the bunnies on the lawn as the sun came down. So cool to be surround by the nature here and imagine what Phoenix used to look like when they arrived at Taliesin West.

The studio room was a cathedral-like experience at sunset in the winter at around 4:45pm, absolutely glowing and still. Magical. I loved how they invite you to sit down at Wright's drawing table. Just very cool. I'm actually going to New York later this year and already had plans to visit the Guggenheim, I didn't realize Wright did those drawings at this property. So sweet to see that connection and to get to visit both sequencially.

Completely worth the visit. Fantastic experience.

Wonderful experience. If you are interested in art, history, culture, architecture or the desert, this is a must. Low key self guided tour is the best. Super helpful and engaged staff who is very knowledgeable. A jewel in the desert. Fascinating and well worth it.

What a wonderful second visit. Slightly disappointed the behind-the-scenes tour was not being given. Audio Tour self-guided, or Desert Tour only until January apparently. Absolutely wonderful structure. The entire structure just reeks of Frank Lloyd Wright which is a wonderful thing to me. For the most in-depth tour I do recommend the behind the scenes tour.

Taliesin West is a fascinating glimpse into the mind of Frank Lloyd Wright—his former home, now a foundation, feels like stepping into a living piece of architectural history. Walking through the spaces he designed, you get a real sense of his “form follows function” philosophy in action. The way the buildings blend into the desert landscape, the way natural light is used, and the unique materials all make it an inspiring place to explore. It’s not just a house—it’s a reflection of Wright’s creative genius. Whether you’re an architecture buff or just love beautiful spaces with a story, it’s a fun and immersive experience.
